# Stovefront > Stovefront is a local food ordering platform for independent kitchens. Cottage food makers, home bakers, pop-ups, small-batch chefs, meal preppers and micro-caterers get their own online storefront to publish weekly menus, take preorders with quantity limits, set order cutoffs and pickup or delivery windows, and get paid. ## Facts - Who it is for: independent cooks selling food they make (cottage food makers, home bakers, pop-ups, small-batch chefs, meal preppers, micro-caterers). Cooks are responsible for following their local cottage food and food safety laws. - Available to kitchens in the United States; prices in USD. - Pricing, in US dollars: Basic is $39/month or $398/year. Premium is $79/month or $806/year. - Free trial: 14 days, no card required. Cooks can also bring their own Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle or cash. Customers pay the kitchen directly. - Ordering: customers can order as guests, without an account. - The storefront and the kitchen dashboard work in any phone browser. Past weeks, sold-out dishes and dishes past their order cutoff are left out or marked unavailable. - Home and pickup street addresses are never published in this information; only the pickup place name the cook chose. - An order placed through a storefront, by a person or by an assistant acting for them, is a request that the cook confirms. Payment happens on Stripe's secure checkout page or through the cook's own payment methods. Stovefront does not let AI agents take payment on their own, and takes no commission on food sales. - Storefronts ask AI training crawlers (for example GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and CCBot) not to collect the cook's photos and recipes for model training, through robots.txt. AI search and assistant bots can still read the menu. - Sample storefronts are kept out of search results. - MCP connector: https://app.stovefront.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no authentication). Four read-only tools: search_kitchens (kitchens with food open for ordering, by dish, dietary tag, pickup date or area), get_menu, get_pickup_windows, and build_order_link (a storefront link with the chosen dishes already in the cart). The tools do not place orders or take payment; the customer reviews the cart and submits the order request on the kitchen's storefront. - Kitchen search lists the same kitchens search engines can find; a kitchen hidden from search results is left out. - Public read API for developers, described by OpenAPI 3.1: https://app.stovefront.com/api/public/openapi.json - Storefront dish buttons are named after the dish, dialogs can be used with a keyboard, and each storefront has a single cart, which helps browser-using AI agents. - Each new order comes with a private order status link on the confirmation screen and in the confirmation email. - Planned, not yet available: listing Stovefront in AI assistants' connector directories, and assistants sending an order request for a customer once the customer approves it (the cook still confirms; assistants still never take payment). - Stovefront is not affiliated with or endorsed by any AI company. ## Sample storefronts These are fictional kitchens that show the customer experience.
